Cheapest regions for used electric vehicles revealed
New data has revealed the cheapest and most expensive regions in the UK to buy used electric vehicles.
According to analysis carried out by Marketcheck, average electric vehicle prices in the East Midlands are lower than anywhere else at £21,213.
Second on the list was the North East (£21,697), followed by Wales (£22,054) and the South West (£23,164).
Meanwhile, the analysis showed that the Greater London region is the most expensive area to buy electric vehicles, with an average cost of £24,514, ahead of Northern Ireland (£22,878).
However, the data also revealed that used electric vehicle prices are levelling up across the country with just £3,301 between the cheapest and most expensive regions. This compares to a gap of £6,954 just two years ago, when average prices in the North West were recorded at £32,620, compared to £25,666 in Scotland.
Regional shifts
Alastair Campbell, Marketcheck UK, said: “Our latest data reveals significant regional shifts in the used EV market, with the East Midlands emerging as the most affordable place to buy a used electric vehicle. At just over £21,000, it’s well below the national average, and a full £3,300 cheaper than in Greater London, where prices have actually risen this year.
“What’s particularly striking is the narrowing of the price gap across the UK. Just two years ago, regional differences were far more pronounced, but we’re now seeing a more level playing field emerge. This points to growing maturity in the used EV market and broader nationwide adoption.”
