BYD sets UK sales record in first quarter of 2025

Chinese vehicle manufacturer BYD has sold more vehicles in the UK in the first quarter of 2025 than the whole of 2024.
It set a new sales record with 9,271 registrations in the first three months of the year, making it the most successful quarter since the brand launched in the UK in March 2023.
Meanwhile, its market share increased from 0.45% last year to 1.6% in the first quarter, and 1.8% in March.
The SEAL U DM-i and SEAL were its most popular models, with 3,975 and 2,521 sales respectively.
Steve Beattie, sales and marketing director, BYD UK: “I am incredibly proud of our latest achievement in the UK; thanks to the tireless work of our team and retailer partners we have smashed yet another sales record. At BYD our mission is to bring high-tech and high-value cars to our customers, and it’s great to see this resonating with UK buyers. With the addition of SEALION 7, we are confident that more people will continue to choose BYD.”
The brand, which was the fastest selling car brand in the UK last year as it saw sales volumes surge by 658%, added to its range last month with the all-new BYD SEALION 7, which offers an all-electric range of up to 312 miles of range.
