Ben marks National Walking Month with two challenges

Automotive charity Ben is marking National Walking Month with two new challenges – the Thames Bridges Trek and the Kiltwalk.

Recognising that 35% of those working in the sector lack regular physical activity and that regular exercise can improve mental health, it is now encouraging automotive colleagues to put their walking shoes on and get involved.

The Thames Bridges Trek will take place on 13 September, when more than 2,500 people will take part in a 25km hike across 16 of the capital’s most iconic bridges.

Meanwhile, the Kiltwalk will take place on multiple dates and locations in Scotland, with walks ranging from four miles to 20.

The first event will be in Aberdeen on 1 June, followed by further walks in Dundee on 17 June and Edinburgh on 14 September.

Matt Wigginton, director of partnerships, engagement and income, said: “Right now, so many in our automotive family are facing real challenges, from struggles with stress, mental health, and money problems. Every step you take and every pound you raise enables us to support those who are struggling, or in crisis.

“So, sign up today and challenge yourself to walk in support of your automotive family. By lacing up and stepping out for Ben, you’re doing more than just walking, you’re helping us change and save lives.”
