With self-driving taxis set for UK roads, new research has revealed that about a third of drivers remain uncertain about autonomous vehicles.
Moove and Waymo have announced plans to bring autonomous ride-hailing services to London, but a significant proportion of motorists are concerned about their impact on road safety and congestion.
According to a survey by Venson Automotive Solutions, just 24% of adults would feel safe in a self-driving car. That percentage increases to 44% of young adults while 56% of teenagers believe autonomous technology will improve road safety.
Simon Staton, client management director at Venson Automotive Solutions, said: “Innovative technologies coming to UK roads could be transformational for the fleet and automotive sector and provide exciting future employment opportunities in our industry. However, clearly the fears of the ride-hailing public need to be proven unfounded.”
Ladi Delano, co-founder and co-CEO of Moove said:
“This partnership represents a major step forward for urban mobility, bringing world-class innovation to one of the world’s greatest cities.”
