UK Garage and Bodyshop Event unveils Show Maker initiative

The UK Garage and Bodyshop Event has launched both a school pupil work experience initiative and college student programme in partnership with School of Thought and Autotech Group.

The event, which is supported by Bodyshop Magazine and will be held at the NEC, Birmingham from 5–6 June, will support School of Thought’s work experience initiative with a first of its kind Show Maker Programme.

It will offer 10 students the chance to become Show Maker, helping with event set up, while gaining an invaluable insight into the industry over the course of three days.

The UK Garage & Bodyshop Event will also launch its official student programme in conjunction with Autotech Group, which aims to engage fresh talent and showcase the array of opportunities within the ever-evolving and increasingly complex sector.

Dave Reece, founder of School of Thought, said: “The Year of Automotive Work Experience is in full swing, and we encourage all companies exhibiting at the UK Garage and Bodyshop Event to offer young people a work experience placement in 2024 and into the future.

“The talent is out there so let’s show young people that there are great careers in the automotive industry. All companies will be welcome on our stand to chat about how we as an industry can address the single biggest long-term problem.”
