WorldSkills registrations open in one week

Registrations for the WorldSkills UK National Competition open in one week.

The skills competitions provide employers, colleges and independent training providers with a proven method of upskilling and developing young people from all backgrounds and abilities.

Designed by industry experts, they assess an individual’s knowledge, practical skills and employability attributes against set criteria in a competitive timed-environment.

Meanwhile, 97% of previous entrants say they improved their technical skills after taking part and 93% said they improved their personal and employability skills. The average earnings of those who participated in WorldSkills UK’s competition development programmes is 60% than those of a comparable peer group.

The first stage of competition takes place in April as a remote or online test, before competitors take part in practical competitions at their local college, training provider or workplace between April and June.

Finalists will be announced in July, with the National Finals taking place in November.
