Thompson named new VWG UK corporate boss

Kate Thompson has been appointed Volkswagen Group UK’s Head of Group Corporate and Public Relations.
She will take up her new role on 3 July, replacing Oliver Larkin who will retire from the Group at the end of June.
Having spent more than 20 years in public relations roles at Volkswagen Group, most recently as head of marketing, PR and communications for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Thompson is an experienced and well-known automotive communications professional.
In her new role, she will report directly to Volkswagen Group UK managing director, Alex Smith.
Smith said: “Over the past three years, Kate has led a strong team and shaped a transformational journey in the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand, as well as launching the iconic ID. Buzz range. As we evolve our future strategy, Kate is ideally placed to drive proactive communication and build our reputation as a welcoming, inclusive and responsible employer.”
