NFDA welcomes MOT update

The Drivers and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has revealed that vehicle recalls will now appear on MOT test certificates.

The announcement was welcomed by the National Franchised Dealers Association which described it as an ‘essential safety mechanism’ and road safety and said, further, it provided an opportunity for dealers to keep track of vehicles that may have changed ownership since purchase.

NFDA CEO Sue Robinson said: “The new MOT recall policy is welcomed by the NFDA and is something that we have called for inclusion in MOTs for many years. It will be a significant boost for motorists that have missed their free safety repairs due to frequent changes to registered keeper data on DVLA files, but also potential buyers of used car vehicles that would like to check a vehicle has an up-to-date safety record.

“Most importantly, for franchised dealers this is a crucial opportunity to establish new business relationships and future potential buyers through the high quality of customer service our members provide and leaving a positive lasting impression.”
