Halfords launches driver safety initiative

Halfords has launched a major driver safety initiative to improve driver behaviour.
Introduced with the support of Webfleet connected fleet management technology, the solution is being installed across the Halfords Mobile Expert and Halfords commercial fleet of 700 vans which deliver mobile tyre services, including fitting and tyre repairs, to thousands of customers every day.
Karl Baker, operations director at Halfords Mobile Expert, said: “With such a large fleet, it’s critical that our technicians out on the road are driving responsibly and respectably at all times. Webfleet has enabled us to bring all our tracking and driver management tools together into one easy-to-use system. The technology has been configurable to our needs, which has made the switchover seamless.
“We are also aiming to cut fuel spend by reducing idling time and to keep a lid on insurance premiums and excesses by sharing demonstrable proof of safer driving with our insurers.”
