FMG selected for WorldSkills qualifiers

FMG Repair Services has announced that its Goole training centre has been chosen to host the WorldSkills UK Automotive Body Repair National Qualifiers in June.

Richard Hutchins, IMI’s skills competitions manager, said: “We always seek to deliver our competitions in centres of excellence, providing our competitors with the best facilities and equipment, so I’m really excited to be taking IMI Skills Competitions back to Yorkshire, and to FMG Repair Services.

“It’s extremely important that we start to get things back to a new normal and I’m delighted that we will be delivering practical National Qualifiers to find the best talented students or apprentices in the UK. Without the support of companies like FMG Repair Services we would not be able to deliver the high standard of events that showcase the skills and abilities of our up and coming competitors.”

FMG Repair Services Technical Training Centre is part of the FMG Repairs Services group, which specialises in vehicle car and repair with services such as rapid repair, mobile repair, windscreen repair and replacement.

Chris McGowan, technical training manager at FMG Repair Services, said: “Being approached by the IMI as a potential consideration to host any element of the prestigious WorldSkills Competitions is an accolade in itself. I’m proud of what we’ve developed at Goole – our facility has the required infrastructure, technical capability, resources and importantly, qualified trainers, to scale on-mass training and qualifications for tomorrow’s needs, today.

“The IMI’s WorldSkills UK competitions programme allows us to consider who our trailblazers are right now, including the 22 Apprentices who have joined us year to date, to shine a light on the skillset required to be ‘top of class’ in the wonderful world of automotive repair. I speak on behalf of everyone at FMG Repair Services when I say I’m delighted we’ve have been chosen to host a key section of this prestigious event.”
