Copart goes green with Colchester upgrades

Copart has announced that infrastructure upgrades are now underway at its Colchester Operation Centre as part of its Plan-Net-Zero commitment.

In line with the blueprint already established by the recent refurbishment of its Bristol Operation Centre, upgrades at the Colchester site will include state-of-the-art insulation, low energy LED lighting, and new onsite waste treatment facilities to filter and clean water.

Meanwhile, with increasing demand for electric and hybrid vehicles, the company is adding dedicated EV areas for specialist handling and onsite charging.

Other works underway on-site include brand-new areas for vehicle preparation and processing, enabling vehicle inspections, valeting, and 360-degree imaging.

All upgrades are expected to be completed this year.

The company said: “As the partner of choice for most major insurers, alongside our continued efforts to expand and improve our range of customer services, we have a responsibility to operate sustainably and ethically.

“Our programme to upgrade and replace offices at our nationwide Operation Centres will ensure that going forward our offices are always inclusive, energy efficient, and constructed in an environmentally friendly way.

“We’re proud that our Colchester Operation Centre is located within a recognised area of outstanding beauty, surrounded by magnificent oak trees. With that in mind, we’re committed to playing our part in helping to improve air quality and encourage nature to the area, so we’ll also be planting additional trees along the entrance road.”
