Admiral ‘changing repair network strategy’

UK motor insurer Admiral has announced it is changing its repair network strategy in a move that could have a telling effect on some bodyshops.

According to the NBRA, Admiral has told many repairers that they should expect no further work from them from 24 October. It is unclear if Admiral is making this change to give policyholders the opportunity to repair their vehicles at a site of their own choosing.

An NBRA statement said: “NBRA received notice today [30 September] that Admiral, has begun the process of changing their network repairer strategy.

“Anticipating this move, NBRA had previously written to the Admiral Board and CEO requesting fair notice and consultation for our members should any changes be planned. Today many repairers have been told to expect no work from 24 October, providing very short notice for small businesses to adapt.”

The NBRA is now asking members to get in touch confidentially to share their thoughts and concerns before it makes a move on behalf of members.

Admiral is part of the Admiral Group, which through its multiple brands is the largest motor insurer in the UK with a 14% market share and gross written premiums of £2.2bn.
