Bodyshops urged to pursue grants

Fix Auto UK has urged bodyshops that have been denied a retail grant or business rate reliefs not to take no for an answer.

Fix Auto West Hampstead, Fix Auto High Wycombe and Fix Auto Hoddesdon have just this week received business rates relief valued at more than £110,000 – after nine months of persistence.

Ian Pugh, Fix Auto UK’s managing director, said: “The priority of every business is survival since the coronavirus pandemic took hold. The government, thankfully, put measures in place like the retail grants and business rate relief to help businesses survive. While we are seeing signs of a recovery, repair volumes have been dramatically down for more than a year now so every penny that can be injected into a business helps cashflow.

“Matt (Wright, director) and his team have tenaciously refused to take no for an answer. We have supported their cause as they fought for what they are rightfully entitled to help sustain a successful operation. There is a lesson for all to be had that you simply should not take no for an answer.”

Fix Auto UK has helped its franchise partners and many repairers outside of its network to successfully gain collectively more than £2.5m in retail grants or business rate relief.
