TYG Products receives sustainability mark

NSF International recently introduced a new mark identifying automotive parts that have met specific environmental claims.

TYG Products, LP’s aftermarket bumper covers that use low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints and primers are the first automotive parts authorized to use the NSF International sustainability mark.

The firm’s bumper components were among the first group of parts to be certified by NSF International’s Automotive Parts Certification program, which identifies high quality parts. To earn the additional sustainability certification, NSF International audited TYG Product’s facility to determine compliance with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Emission Standards for Hazard Air Pollutants that have been linked to cancer and other adverse health effects.

‘We are honored to be the first automotive parts manufacturer to use the NSF International sustainability mark,’ said Jeff Chen, President of TYG Products. ‘The NSF International mark provides businesses and consumers globally with more environmentally friendly options. Additionally, we have moved to recycled content materials for packaging on these parts.’

‘I congratulate TYG Products for being the first automotive parts manufacturer authorized to use the NSF International’s sustainability mark for utilizing low VOC paints and primers. In addition to meeting NSF International’s rigid automotive parts certification requirement, TYG Products has gone above and beyond to meet additional environmental requirements setting the example for others to follow,’ said Bob Frayer, global managing director of automotive certification programs at NSF International.

NSF International’s Automotive Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program tests and certifies lamps, front bumpers, reinforcing beams (rebars), step bumpers, sheet metal and plastic components, and absorbers. All NSF International certified automotive parts have a limited lifetime warranty.
