Light commercial vehicle values hit two-year high
Light commercial vehicle values at BCA rose in September to their highest monthly level since March 2024.
Average values increased by 5.5% to reach £8,820, while year-on-year values were ahead by 4.3%.
In the past two months, values have risen by £886 (11.2%) as buyer numbers at BCA improved to reach the highest point since March of this year and demand increased significantly across a broad selection of stock.
At the three-quarter point in the calendar year, BCA has sold nearly 83,000 LCVs to 8,175 unique buyers at an average value of £8,355, equivalent 103.5% of guide price expectations
Stuart Pearson, BCA COO UK, said: “Following on from an unseasonably strong performance in August at BCA, LCV values kicked on again in September to record the highest average value in 30 months. With an increase in buyer numbers supporting strong competition for stock, sold volumes lifted during September without denting price performance in any way.
“Battery electric LCVs continue to gain traction in the wider market as increasing numbers of models are available and there is greater confidence from buyers to acquire these vehicles.
“While competition remains exceptionally strong for the best-presented stock, we continue to see buyers casting the net wider when it comes to stock acquisition and a greater appetite for vehicles that require some level of refurbishment, providing these vehicles are valued sensibly to reflect their condition.
“We expect to see good levels of trading in the coming weeks as the available volume lifts, and the retail sector prepares for the pre-Christmas parcel rush.”
