Rowley issues rallying cry for DEBRA UK dragon boat challenge
The automotive industry is being encouraged to support a new charity challenge being organised to raise vital funds for DEBRA UK.
DEBRA UK supports people and families living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a painful genetic skin condition often referred to as Butterfly Skin. It provides vital care and support while funding research into future treatments.
The new challenge will see NBRA executive director Martyn Rowley support DEBRA UK at the Ironbridge Dragon Boat Race on the River Severn in Shropshire on Friday, 4 June. He is now inviting the industry to form teams of eight to 10 paddlers and one drummer to join him on the day, taking part in at least two heats before the grand final.
Registration costs £500 per team or £45 per individual, with a fundraising target of £2,000 per team and £180 per individual.
The day will also include a barbeque, music and raffles, with prizes awarded for the best dressed team and team that raises the most.
Rowley said: “The idea is to get teams from across our industry, whether that’s repairers, suppliers, insurers, manufacturers, or anyone else who fancies getting involved. You can enter as a company team, get a group of colleagues together or simply sign up as an individual and join others on the day. And don’t worry if you can’t paddle, you can always come along, cheer us on, buy a burger and laugh at those of us who thought this was a good idea in the first place.
