ARIES celebrates 75% sign up in first year
Three quarters of repairers in the UK have signed up to ARIES in the first 12 months since it was launched.
The Accident Repair Industry Environmental Standard (ARIES) is a UK industry-wide initiative designed to measure and reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions within the vehicle accident repair sector.
It was developed by a cross-section of industry leaders to replace PAS 2060, which was discontinued at the end of last year.
To date, 1,197 repairer sites have now committed to the environmental standard, representing 75% of the industry focused on insurance repair, with 913 carbon reduction plans audited and verified.
Meanwhile, 20% of the industry has achieved international standard Level 5, 26% are on Level 4, and 54% on are on Levels 3, 2 and 1.
The average tonnes of carbon emission (tCO2e) per site is currently 69.29, average tCO2e per £1m turnover is 26.373, average per vehicle 0.054, and average per employee 3.328.

Level 1: Commitment to a carbon reduction management plan across Scope 1 and 2
Level 2: Completion of carbon reduction management plan across Scope 1 and 2
Level 3: Achievement of carbon reduction management plan across Scope 1 and 2
Level 4: Commitment to a carbon reduction management plan across Scope 3
Level 5: Achievement of carbon reduction management plan across Scope 3.
