The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) has announced a new partnership with Capital City College to offer automotive internships and work placements.

The initiative, which will be launched in September, will offer students hands-on experience at the NFDA to help them develop workplace skills while gaining insight into the automotive retail sector.

Students will have the opportunity to work across a range of business functions including communications, public affairs, events, membership services and policy.

The NFDA will also provide students with an insight into working within dealerships.

Future talent

Sue Robinson, chief executive of NFDA, said: “NFDA is committed to supporting the development of future talent. These placements will allow students to gain practical workplace experience, develop transferable skills and learn more about the automotive sector from a unique perspective.”

Meanwhile, the NFDA has also called for greater government clarity around issues such as the ZEV Mandate, Electric Vehicle Excise Duty, and the wider transition to net zero.

Robinson said: “Franchised retailers are helping to deliver the changes taking place across the industry. However, clear and practical policies are essential to give retailers the confidence to invest, adapt and continue supporting customers.”
