Electric vehicle battery certificates key to consumer trust
Volteras has reported that its electric vehicle battery certificates improve interest and trust in used models.
It carried out a six-month on trial using Tesla Model 3s and reported positive benefits in four key areas.
It found that Teslas with the Volteras State of Health certificate received 20% more advert views, 34% more unique advert views, 10% more bids and four per cent more unique bidders. Prices remained the same, but consumer trust improved which led to faster sales.
Battery health is calculated using vehicle manufacturer data accessed through Volteras connected vehicle APIs, meaning there is no need for hardware installation or physical vehicle connection. This enables the health of the battery to be measured continuously through the life of the vehicle, enabling informed decisions around performance at any stage.
Barney Hewlett, Volteras head of product design, said:
“The trial has been highly valuable in identifying how State of Health certificates can build trust with buyers and vendors when selling vehicles at auction. This makes a big contribution towards helping used EVs gain credibility as they become an integral part of the used car ecosystem.”
