ADAS calibrations up 30% in a year at Auto Windscreens
Auto Windscreens has reported a 30% increase in ADAS calibrations in the last year.
It has also seen windscreen replacements and repairs increase by seven per cent in the last 12 months.
The company says the increase in ADAS calibrations has been driven by the rising number of Chinese models entering the UK market, with nearly half its windscreen replacement jobs now requiring ADAS calibration.
Claire Church, director of service delivery at Auto Windscreens, said: “There’s been a year-on-year increase in ADAS calibrations since 2017, and now more than 40% of our front windscreen replacement jobs include an ADAS calibration, simply due to the number of cars with these features on our roads.
“The influx of new models with the latest technology, especially from China, has helped to drive the ADAS market to new heights. It’s influenced how the automotive technician’s role has changed over the last 10 years. That’s why we’re so passionate about lobbying for the role to be recognised as a skilled profession.
“The ADAS market is likely to just keep on growing; new cars sold in the EU and Northern Ireland must be equipped with specific ADAS as standard. Although this isn’t yet mandatory in the UK, many vehicles on the road now include at least one ADAS feature.
“It’s more important than ever that we work hard to raise awareness among drivers and the industry of the importance of proper calibration, undertaken at the right time and under the right conditions.”
