The value of vehicle refinishing has been underlined in a new study carried out by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes.
A part of its ‘There’s Beauty in Every Finish’ campaign, which celebrates the skill of refinishing professionals, it surveyed automotive professionals in the UK and Europe to gauge the impact of vehicle design and craftmanship.
It found that 66% of respondents said the right finish or styling can transform a polarising car design. That rose to 80% in Italy but dropped to 50% in Germany.
The research also identified where vehicle design was the most frustrating, and where refinishing professionals can have the greatest impact, with 73% pointing to vehicle shape of body style.
Martin Rautenberg, technical manager EMEAI, Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes, said: “These insights reflect what refinishers see every day. While design sets the foundation, it’s the finish that ultimately shapes perception. With the right refinishing systems and skills, even the most debated vehicles can be transformed into something people see in a completely new light.”
