Motor Auction Group hits 79-year high

Motor Auction Group has reported the biggest ever sales week in its 79-year history.

Sales volumes were 10% higher than the previous weekly high, which was recorded in September 2024.

The increase was driven by a rise in dealer part exchange entries and a growth in sales of used LCVs, while demand for electric vans has also increased due to higher diesel prices.

Matt Gill, MAG director, said: “The used car market has been challenging over the past month particularly on dealer part exchange stock as we have seen more hit the market from the March new car registrations. There have also been several external economic factors that have impacted the general confidence of the buyers.

“We are starting to see more interest in electric vans and can only assume this is down to the increase in fuel prices, while used diesel LCVs are still in short supply but with plenty of repeat model stock still in the marketplace.”
