Core introduces calibration target mat sets for more models

Core Diagnostics has introduced 360°/Around View Monitoring (AVM) calibration target mat sets for models from a wide range of vehicle manufacturers, including many of the fastest-growing brands in the UK market.

The move comes after the leading remote diagnostics and ADAS solutions provider saw significant demand for its 360°/AVM calibration target mat set for MG vehicles since bringing them into its product portfolio last year.

New calibration target mat sets

The 360°/AVM system – which stitches together the feeds from cameras mounted in the front grille, rear of the vehicle, and door mirror housings to provide the driver with a seamless bird’s-eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings – is increasingly becoming standard equipment on new vehicles.

As with all ADAS camera systems, precise calibration is required after many common repair procedures, including replacement or refitting of front and rear bodywork, door mirrors and door realignment.

Failure to carry out this essential recalibration procedure can adversely affect the system’s performance, with implications for both vehicle safety and the bodyshop’s liability.

OEM 360°/AVM calibration target mat sets – where available directly from the vehicle manufacturer – can be prohibitively expensive and are frequently out of stock, creating delays and added cost for workshops that encounter these vehicles.

Positive response

Core Diagnostics’ calibration target mat kits offer an affordable and readily available alternative. Designed to OEM specifications, constructed from hard-wearing materials and printed with UV-resistant ink, the high-contrast mat patterns enable technicians to quickly and reliably calibrate AVM camera systems.

When Core Diagnostics first launched its 360°/AVM calibration mat set for MG vehicles, the response from bodyshops and workshops across the UK was immediate – underscoring just how significant the need was for a cost-effective, in-stock solution.

The expanded range now covers BYD; Omoda, Jaecoo and Chery; IM; Geely Group vehicles; VAG models; Stellantis brands Leapmotor, Peugeot, Citroen, DS and Vauxhall’ Xpeng; Changan Deepal; GWM Group brands; Mazda; and Toyota/Lexus.

Increasingly important

The inclusion of BYD and OMODA reflects the broader shift in the UK’s new car parc. Both brands have posted strong registration figures and are now a growing presence in bodyshop repair volumes – making it increasingly important for accident repair businesses to have the right calibration equipment in place.

Each calibration mat kit allows workshops to carry out 360°/AVM recalibration in-house, eliminating the need to outsource the procedure or invest in expensive OEM tooling. Workshops can provide customers with confidence that the vehicle has been returned to OE standard, while also generating a valuable additional revenue stream on every qualifying repair.

All kits are available now from Core Diagnostics, with expert advice on hand to help bodyshops select the correct kit for the vehicles they work on.
