Health and Safety decisions taken to trial

Managers from Northgate Vehicle Hire and FMG Repair Services are taking part in mock trials to better understand the value of Health and Safety protocols.

Funded by insurance partners Howden and Alliance and supported by solicitors from Clyde & Co, the programme takes participants through the full lifecycle of a workplace incident – from initial response to a live courtroom simulation.

It aims to highlight the importance of preventing incidents where possible and managing them effectively when they occur, showing operational leaders how their decisions may later be examined in legal proceedings.

Taking place in Birmingham, Manchester and London, the initiative is part of the group’s commitment to proactive risk management and its insurance risk improvement programme.

Top priority

Charlotte Tilstone, head of insurance, ZIGUP plc, said: “Health and Safety is a top priority for Northgate, and this immersive mock trial training allows our managers to experience the legal and operational implications of workplace incidents.

“By equipping our leaders with practical knowledge and confidence, we reinforce a culture of proactive risk management across all our operations.”
