Norton completes Great North Run for charity
Fix Auto UK’s regional business manager Carl Norton and wife Anne ran the Great North Run on Sunday, raising more than £7,500 for charity.
The couple were running for If U Care Share, a charity dedicated to suicide prevention and bereavement support. The cause was a deeply personal one for them after their son Thomas took his own life in 2023.
Carl said: “We weren’t sure whether I’d make it to the finish or just the first water station, but Thomas was with us both every step of the way, and that gave us the drive and strength to keep going. I’m proof if I can run 13.1 miles, anyone can. Just don’t ask me to do it again.”
Norton is a committed advocate of mental health awareness and support and is the driving force behind Fix Auto UK’s award-winning Mental Health First Aiders programme. The programme was launched three years ago with the goal of ensuring each Fix Auto UK repair centre has at least two trained individuals who can identify and respond to signs of mental health challenges.
The programme follows the nationally recognised Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA) course and is available free to all franchises and supplier partners.
