Alltruck unveils first all-electric truck
Commercial vehicle contract hire specialist Alltruck has introduced its first all-electric truck to the leasing sector.
Supported by a network of approved repairers throughout the UK, Alltruck operates depots in Nottingham, Leicester, and Loughborough.
It has introduced the DAF XD Electric, designed for both short and long-haul logistics, for a long-standing customer in the London area.
Manufactured and fitted by Alltruck at its Loughborough bodyshop, the DAF XD Electric features cutting-edge fleet management systems, including real-time monitoring of battery health, route optimisation, and predictive maintenance.
Sustainable transport
Josh Robinson, managing director, said: “The introduction of this, our first EV truck marks a significant step on our Alltruck Zero journey and a major leap forward in the transition to sustainable transport for our customers. HGVs account for 18% of road transport emissions and 13% of nitrogen oxide levels.
“But we know the shift to electric isn’t just about doing the right thing for the planet; it’s also about the numbers. With electric trucks, the total cost of ownership picture looks very different, especially when you factor in lower maintenance, reduced energy costs and long-term operational gains.”
He concluded: “Launching this new EV truck is a big milestone, but it’s only part of the picture. What makes this transition truly possible is the infrastructure behind the scenes. Our in-house bodyshop gives us the capability to build, adapt and maintain high-quality, future-ready bodies designed specifically for electric vehicles.”
