Fix Auto Lichfield owner completes children’s charity drive

Fix Auto Lichfield owner Andy Johnson has raised £12,000 for a Birmingham Children’s Hospital charity by completing the 3,000km Panda Raid driving challenge across the Moroccan desert.

He and co-driver Sam Randon finished 61st to raise money for Carter The Brave, a fundraising group set up to support the Oncology Ward, Clinic and Research department at the Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital.

He said: “I’ve never tried to raise money for anything before so to receive the level of support and good wishes from those who have been so kind and generous has been extremely humbling and I can’t thank them enough.”

The event got underway from Almería starting with a ferry crossing to Nador, Morocco. From there the route took the drivers through various African regions that included some of the most unhospitable driving conditions on the planet before culminating in the north of Casablanca.
