Peugeot 3008 revealed as fastest selling used car

The fastest selling used car in the UK has been revealed as the Peugeot 3008.

According to data from Auto Trader, the model takes just 12 days on average to attract a buyer. This is two weeks quicker than the national average for used cars, which is 26 days.

The data also confirmed the growing demand for hybrid models, with the Peugeot 3008 joined on the list of the fastest selling used cars by five other hybrids, including the Mercedes-Benz GLC Class and CLA Class, the Seat Leon Hatchback and Estate, and the Hyundai Tucson.

Across the segment, hybrids are sold on average within 24 days of going on sale. This compares to 25 days for petrol models and 28 days for diesels.

Meanwhile, cars in the three-to-five year-old category leave forecourts in 24 days on average, compared to 32 days for models aged between 10 and 15 years old.

Richard Walker, Auto Trader’s data and insights director, said: “The speed in which used cars are selling is a good barometer of the underlying health of the used car market, and since the start of the year, we’ve seen them leave retailers’ forecourts at a record pace.

“Whilst our outlook for the rest of the year is confident, retailers do face an incredibly nuanced and complex market; as ever, the devil is in the detail, and I’d urge retailers to analyse the data on a granular level to navigate the market and identify the stock that provides the most profitable opportunities for their forecourt.”
