Toyota parts supply outlook ‘improving’

Toyota (GB) has announced “an improved outlook” for the supply of parts to its network in readiness for a gradual return to normal aftersales operations.

Since the downscaling of its Pan-European operations and implementation of special ordering measures announced on 20 March, TGB has implemented measures to ensure workplace distancing is fully respected, as its parts and logistics operations return to an increased level of activity.

A number of TGB partners have reassessed staffing levels and business operations, and have decided to lift some of the aftersales restrictions they had implemented.

“We recognise the current restrictive parts ordering process needs to be eased and certainly as lockdown measures begin to relax across Europe, the demand for parts may be greater than supply currently allows,” said Paul Clack, Toyota’s national body and paint development manager.

“I am pleased to announce that from Monday, 27 April – and applicable to orders placed from Friday, 24 April – we will move a step closer to a ‘normalised’ parts distribution operation. This will mean that the movement of parts and accessories will be able to flow more freely from Europe to Toyota Parts Lutterworth and onwards.

“This policy has been released to all of Toyota and Lexus dealer partners and we are starting to experience an increasing number of dealers open their parts operations. Our priority has been the safety and well-being of our customers and staff members, and we kindly request that you are patient as they develop safe methods of working in the new normal,” Clack added.

Toyota will continue to operate its central parts service and should anyone require assistance identifying an operational genuine Toyota or Lexus parts supplier, they are asked to contact [email protected].
