Claims on the rise as lockdown eases

The latest CAPS Consortium collision repair industry report for the week ending 17 April shows an increase of 5-7% respectively on the previous week.

The new figures are 82% for unique claims and 94% for supply chain transmissions, and are measured against the peak of claims recorded across the CAPS platform in the first week of November 2020.

Two of the factors causing these fluctuations include delays in claims exchanged during Easter, coupled with increased levels of peak-time traffic as the country eases out of lockdown.

The delay in claims exchanged caused by the Easter bank holidays and bodyshops reporting a continued reduction in workforce due to flexi-furlough.

CAPS commercial manager Kevern Thompson said: “There is still a way to go, but these figures are encouraging for most.”
