The Actuary reports that Aviva suspects organised motor insurance fraud increased by 28% between 2013 and 2014. The insurer said the value of fraud increased from £30m in 2013 to £38m in 2014, and it currently has more than 15,000 ‘suspicious claims’ under investigation. Collisions on motorways involving foreign lorries have increased by 14% since 2012, Accident Exchange statistics have revealed. Lorries from Poland and Germany were found to be the most accident-prone by some margin; Polish lorries represented 15.7% of accidents, while German vehicles followed with 13.1% of lorry collisions.
