Guidance notes
We are not looking for the cheapest or most expensive estimate – simply the most accurate, safe and appropriate repair, based on the photos and information supplied.
1 A labour rate of £30 per hour should be used in all
calculations.
Please note: this rate is used as a nominal rate in order that we can compare
entries like with like and is not intended as a statement of policy for
establishing a national rate.
2 Estimates should be presented as if they were for an insurance company or work provider. However, the estimates should be costed as you would for a retail customer without discounts, rebates etc.
3 You may use whichever manual or computer-based method of estimating you prefer.
4 Parts and materials should be quoted at full current manufacturer retail prices with no allowance for work provider discounts.
5 Use default paint prices from your system or escribe for manual estimates.
6 All sub-contracted work should be shown in the estimate as time taken to repair and not as a sublet fee – even if you do farm out this work.
7 All entrants for this Award must be employees of a genuine body repair business or work as an independent or insurance company assessor at the time of entry.
8 Only one entry per person.
All entries should be accompanied by a completed personal details form which should include answers to the 6 questions.
The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
