Volvo set for bodyshop Event

Volvo is set to participate in this year’s Tech Talks – the vehicle manufacturer educational programme schedule for the bodyshop Event 2018.

Displaying the new XC40, Volvo apprentice body and Paint trainer/assessor, Rob Linehan will offer delegates a behind the scenes insight into the latest construction techniques, systems and technologies featured on the latest model.

Steve Plunkett, Volvo body and paint programme development manager, said, ‘It is a pleasure to once again be asked to position this new technology at the bodyshop magazine annual event. Rob (Linehan)  received some great feedback from last year’s XC60 session at the event.

‘Since the launch of the new XC90 model almost three years ago, we have launched five additional new Volvo models and with it much new technology. We have seen the arrival of the new S90, V90, XC60, XC40 and more recently the new V60.’

Steve continued, ‘The V40 and XC40 are both built on the CMA (compact modular architecture) platform and all other models are built on our SPA (scalable product architecture) platform, all too often there is a lack of understanding as to what this actually means during the repair process.

‘Since we launched the body and paint programme in 2012, we have made much effort to share Volvo technology with the wider industry as it’s important that there is a greater understanding of this new innovation and in turn of how these complex vehicles should be repaired safely in the aftermarket.’

The Tech Talks will see a select number of vehicle manufacturers have a vehicle on display throughout the daytime component of the event allowing delegates to be fully interactive. A representative from each brand will host two, 20 minute sessions (morning and afternoon) detailing some of the latest construction, systems and technologies featured on the vehicles and specifically aimed at educating the collision repair community.

The bodyshop Event and Awards 2018 takes place at the Hilton Metropole Birmingham on 27-28 September. For more information and to secure your place visit: http://www.bodyshopmag.com/bodyshop-event-awards-2018-booking-form/ or email: [email protected]
