Uber drivers forced to pull over

Uber is insisting UK drivers take a six-hour break after 10 hours of taking bookings.

To enforce this policy, it will prevent drivers from logging onto its app during these six-hour rest periods.

Andrew Byrne, Uber’s head of policy in the UK and Ireland, said, ‘While drivers only spend an average of 30 hours a week logged into our app, we want to do our part to ensure they don’t drive tired.’

The company says that a third of Uber drivers in the UK log more than 40 hours each week, while eight per cent log more than 60 hours.
