No expense spared for Peugeot and Toyota

An online car garage and repair marketplace, WhoCanFixMyCar.com, has revealed that Peugeot and Toyota top the list of the most expensive cars to repair and maintain in the UK.

The site analysed more than 1 million data points to reveal which cars cost the most across three key classifications; hatchback, saloon and SUV/MPV.

Peugeot made for the most expensive hatchbacks to repair on average, with the Peugeot 207 costing £208.37, as well as topping the saloon list with the Peugeot 407, costing £230.15.

The Toyota Rav-4 is the most expensive car to maintain of the three classifications, with an average quote for servicing and repairs costing £297.83. This is 9.6% more expensive than the most expensive premium SUV/MPV, the Land Rover Freelander with an average repair cost of £271.64.

The Rav-4 also came in more expensive on average per repair than the Range Rover Sport, BMW X5 and the Jaguar X-Type.

Alistair Preston, Co-Founder of WhoCanFixMyCar.com said, ‘All car owners know that reliability is one of the most important things you look at when buying a car. It’s never a convenient time for your car to break down or need repair work, not least because of the unplanned cost involved. Our data gives us a unique perspective on the market and we’re happy to be able to share this with car buyers around the UK.

‘Interestingly, our data shows that premium vehicles are not always the most expensive to maintain on average when comparing them to non-premium brands. It just goes to show the importance of considering the cost of maintenance long-term when choosing a new car.’
