Luxury car sales buck trends

BCA reports strong demand for the luxury and supercar sectors in the UK as sales of high value vehicles in 2017 often substantially outperformed guide price expectations.

BCA sold a range of vehicles from the luxury and supercar sectors for over £100,000 last year, including Audi R8 Spyder, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Bentley Mulsanne and Continental, Rolls-Royce Wraith, Phantom and Ghost, Lamborghini, Land Rover Autobiography and Ferrari.

BCA found that around 65% of these high value cars were purchased by live online bidders, with the balance being brought by in-lane buyers. Sold price outperformed price guide expectations by up to 18%.

Stuart Pearson, managing director UK remarketing at BCA said, ‘This data showed BCA experienced high demand across these high-value sectors with exceptional interest for some of the rarer supercars, that attracted buyers from all over the UK and Europe. It also underlines that there is plenty of confidence from our buyers to purchase these ‘top end’ vehicles.

‘Our approach blends physical and online audiences to provide the strongest possible audience for any sale. It is especially important to bring together the right sellers and buyers for these rare and high-value vehicles.’
