Healys protects historic motoring memorabilia

Solicitors Healys have stepped in to safeguard a unique collection of motoring memorabilia worth more than £250,000, which is owned by the Guild of Motoring Writers (GoMW).
The Classic Car Group at the London firm of solicitors has set up a trust to safeguard more than a hundred individual items.
The items range from Jackie Stewart’s original racing helmet to a connecting rod from Mike Hawthorn’s 1955 Le Mans winning Jaguar, including many original artworks hanging at The Pall Mall and Woodcote Park headquarters of the Royal Automobile Club.
‘These items are a huge asset to the Guild’ said guild president Nick Mason ‘and one which we want to look after for future generations.’
March 27th saw the official unveiling of the new Guild of Motoring Writers permanent display at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu in Hampshire, which is where many of the items that are now secure from the trust will be on display to the public
Cutting the ribbon were lord Ralph Montague and guild president Nick Mason, former Pink Floyd drummer and noted car collector and writer. The display presents some of The Guild’s unique collection of motoring memorabilia, donated to it over the years since its formation in 1944.
