Smart investments in Scotland

Leading vehicle refurbishment specialist Smart Fleet Solutions is making a £2.5m investment in its technical centre in Livingston, West Lothian, which will double the site’s capacity and play an important part in the company’s continued expansion.

The work will include redevelopment of the existing vehicle inspection building and workshop and development of a new smart repair facility, along with construction of new office accommodation and staff facilities including locker rooms and kitchens.

Scheduled for completion by the end of March 2018, redevelopment of the 15-acre site will enable up to 400 vehicles to be refurbished there every week and will create 40 new jobs including highly skilled technicians who are trained in-house to utilise the latest smart repair techniques.

Smart Fleet Solutions partners with major fleet operators, rental companies and vehicle manufacturers to unlock the value of every vehicle being de-fleeted by reducing refurbishment costs and shortening cycle times.

The company operates four state-of-the-art technical centres across the UK in Wiltshire, Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire and Livingston, all of which act as one-stop shops enabling vehicles to be prepared for sale – from initial inspections through smart repair and refurbishment to digital imaging – as quickly and cost-effectively as possible to help maximise their value.

Theo Kortland, managing director of Smart Fleet Solutions, said, ‘Our technical centre in Livingston is important because it enables us to meet the needs of fleet operators in Scotland locally, which shortens cycle times and reduces the environmental impact of the de-fleeting process, because vehicles don’t need to be transported large distances.

‘Redevelopment of the site is part of our ongoing investment across all our operations and will enable us to double capacity at Livingston to 400 vehicles a week and increase our workforce in Scotland. The work will include installation of the most up-to-date facilities and the latest equipment, supported by our bespoke technology and the very best people in the business.’
