Open evening comes to Fix Auto Loughborough

Fix Auto Loughborough is investing in future talent and inviting local pupils, schools and their parents to an open evening tomorrow evening.

Young people, parents and local visitors will get a hands-on look at the latest accident repair products and workshop processes – from painting and prepping accident damaged vehicles, to plastic welding, computer resets and calculating the cost to repair a crashed car.

The open evening will see Fix Auto Loughborough’s team involved in welcoming potential apprentices to what could be their first experience of the bodyshop world. The senior management, team leaders and technicians will get ‘hands-on’ with live demonstrations, sharing technical information and proving a neat, insider’s view of bodyshop repair processes.

The team has also secured  a number of competition prizes for guests, including a weekend break in a Scottish highlands cottage, a three-month free trial at a local gym, a restaurant voucher, a 30-minute PT session with local trainer and MOT and full service or winter health check and valet.

To spread the word about the open evening the bodyshop has put up notices in local shops and the community centre and local MP, Nicky Morgan, has also shared it on her Facebook page and put it up in her offices.

AutoRaise, the vehicle repair industry charity, is supporting Fix Auto Loughborough and this event is part of a series of regional Industry Showcase Events to attract young people into what is a fast-moving, highly skilled, exciting and rewarding industry.

Paul Smith, Owner, Fix Auto Loughborough, said, ‘We are proud to work with AutoRaise and excited to have the opportunity to welcome future apprentices, their parents and schools to our advanced repair facility. We must address the automotive skills shortage by attracting and supporting a new generation of young people. By working together with fellow repairers, trainers, schools and colleges, we can show young people and their parents how the new automotive industry is evolving, how much we invest in the latest,  ground breaking technology, equipment and processes, and how varied the career opportunities are.’
