Lookers eyes £1m charity target

National motor retailer Lookers has demonstrated its commitment to BBC Children in Need by aiming to raise £1 million.

As a proud partner of BBC Children in Need, the group, which operates from 160 franchised motor dealerships across the UK, has already kicked off proceedings with a visit from Pudsey Bear who flexed his fundraising muscles in an Operations Board Meeting at Lookers HQ. As corporate social responsibility director for the day, Pudsey helped to come up with some great fundraising ideas for Lookers to deliver over the year.

One fundraising initiative will see Lookers’ customers enter a twice yearly competition, which will give them an opportunity to donate to BBC Children in Need when they buy a new or used car. In return, customers could win a car up to the value of £25,000.

Pudsey will also be visiting Lookers dealerships across the coming months to support Lookers employees and customers in their fundraising efforts to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people in their communities.

Lookers CEO, Andy Bruce, said, ‘We are delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause and it is great to see the impact BBC Children in Need already makes in our communities. I’m certainly looking forward to encouraging all of our people across the business to get involved in some fantastic fundraising events as we aim to raise £1 million for this fantastic charity.’

BBC Children in Need supports around 2,400 projects across the UK that are helping children facing a range of disadvantages. The charity’s vision is that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their full potential.  In the last year alone, BBC Children in Need has helped 480,000 children and young people in communities all across the UK.
