IMI standards receive SFA approval

The IMI has received Skills Funding Agency approval for three new standards.

They are Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, Heavy Vehicle and Maintenance Technician, and Bus and Coach Engineering Technician.

Mark Armitage, senior apprenticeship manager of the IMI, said, ‘Recent government changes to apprenticeships have given employers of apprentices the power to choose who they want to conduct independent end-point assessments of their apprentices. But, to date, 53% of new apprenticeship standards are still without an approved assessment organisation.

‘It should, therefore, be welcome news for employers in the automotive sector that the IMI has received SFA approval for three new standards.’
