Fix Auto enhances Wales network

Fix Auto UK’s coverage in south Wales has been strengthened with the appointment of a third new franchisee in six weeks, taking the network’s annual repair capacity in the region to more than 7,000 vehicles.

Family-run D Sims Crash Repair Centre in Tonypandy, five miles from Pontypridd, has joined the network and will operate as Fix Auto Tonypandy. The latest announcement comes in the wake of Fix Auto Swansea and Fix Auto Aberdare who joined the network in September.

Formed by owner Dave Sims 23 years ago, the operation repairs more than 2,000 vehicles a year from its 25,000sqft bodyshop that features five spraybooths including one dedicated to LCVs. Dave is supported in the business by his wife Beth, who manages the accounting function, and eldest son Rhys, a qualified VDA.

His second son, Owen, is set to join the business when he leaves school next year.

Dave said, ‘We have been steadily building the business over the years but as an independent operation, we have limited options for growth. We are an extremely ambitious family and firmly believe we have a lot more to give the industry and I really want to accelerate that growth.  There are no doubts in my mind that Fix Auto will assist with our ambitions.’

Ian Pugh of Fix Auto UK said, ‘Building up a successful business operating out of a 25,000sqft repair centre is an excellent success story. Dave has expressed his desire to continually grow and develop which is an ethos he shares with us. The appointment adds to our coverage in south Wales, and helps us to develop our proposition for our insurer clients.’
