Data under spotlight at be2017

Data safeguarding will come under the spotlight at the bodyshop Event – be2017 – during a seminar session with Kevern Thompson, commercial manager, CAPS Consortium.

Kevern’s highly rated session from IBIS Ireland in June will provide be2017 delegates with the opportunity to gain a concise insight into data management including the pending General Data Protection Regulations set for introduction in May 2018 – something Kevern claims will ‘change the game’.

Speaking at IBIS Ireland, Kevern told delegates: ‘If you were going to be a thief today, you’d steal data, because data is the easiest and most profitable thing to steal. It doesn’t just get sold once, it gets sold multiple times. Data in any form is a commodity, and if something has a value then someone will try to steal it and they’ll go to the ends of the earth to do it.

‘Bodyshop owners have got something very valuable and I don’t think you appreciate the value of it.’

Kevern’s session forms part of an action packed Friday daytime programme for the bodyshop Event which includes a sponsor exhibition arena, live vehicle manufacturer product updates and a full agenda of seminar sessions.

The bodyshop Event & Awards 2017 takes place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on 28-29 September. The event of the year is only possible thanks to the support of headline partners AkzoNobel and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and partners Autoglass BodyRepair, Al-Futtaim Auto Centers, Audatex, CAPS, Car-O-Liner, EMACS, GT Motive Estimate, IAEA, LKQ Coatings, NBRA, NIBS, S&B Automotive Academy, Sikkens Autocoat BT, Thatcham Research, Upol, Veetec Motor Group and Vizion.
