C&D makes a move

C&D Services (UK) Ltd has a made a major move investing more than £1m in a new 12,000sqft repair facility.

Relocating from Barking to Basildon at the end of October the business is now fully operational boasting 17 vehicle manufacturer approvals, along with BS10125 accreditation, and working for some of the UK’s largest networks.

The business is headed by managing director, Steve Willsone VDA ATA who started life in the trade as a panel technician prior to setting up on his own in 1998.

Steve said, ‘I started on my own in 1998 in a 1,500sqft workshop. Over the years I got to the point where I had to start to take on members of staff and rent a second size unit on Barking Industrial Park.’

After nine years and following continued growth, Steve had his wife Julie and four others working in the business full time. The business then acquired a new site and secured its first vehicle manufacturer approval with Honda. It then set out on a quest to secure more approvals with bodyshop manager, now operations director, Paul supported by Keith Travers of Movac heading up the process.

Another 10 years on and C&D had again outgrown its site. The business then rented a premises for three years whilst it sought more permanent residence – the result being its new £1m Basildon site.

Steve said, ‘I would like to say a huge thank you for all those that have helped make this happen – all members of staff; our bank; our accountant; my Wife, son and daughter for putting up with me; and all our supporting work providers.

‘This is a very proud time for C&D Services UK Ltd.’
