CAPS Consortium’s data exchange service will be provided free of charge to UK bodyshops from April.
This move forms a key element of CAPS’ (Common Automotive Platform Standard) commitment to create an open data exchange standard for the UK automotive repair sector that is secure, transparent and consistent.
Kevern Thompson, CAPS commercial manager, commented, ‘Work providers such as insurance companies and claims management businesses are keen to use CAPS as the standard for sharing information with their suppliers.
‘By making CAPS free of charge to bodyshops and vehicle repairers, we’re enabling repairers to work with a larger number of insurers as well as providing them with a platform that has been shown to reduce cost and administrative hassle during repairs. We see this is a vital part of helping to move the claims industry forward, with more repairers now able to employ a highly-efficient data transfer system.’
CAPS connects to all bodyshop management systems and currently has more than 500 repair users.
