BS Supplies becomes IAL distributor

International Applications Ltd (IAL) has taken a stake in Stoke-based coatings and consumables distributor BS Supplies.

BS Supplies joins Paintstore, Leamington Spa, as a key distribution partner for IAL, which has recently secured investment from Eguchi Iwao, oen of Japan’s leading suppliers of automotive and industrial paints and coatings.

Paul O’Reilly, managing director of BS Supplies, said, ‘BS Supplies has worked closely with IAL for some time and I have been impressed with the engagement of the senior management team and with the range of commercial services they have to offer. As we grow the business it is important that we find the right partners and the investment agreement we have reached with Llewelyn and his team puts us in an excellent place for the future.’

‘I am delighted to welcome Paul and BS Supplies into the IAL family,’ said Llewelyn Mulder, managing director of IAL. ‘We’re keen to actively support the growth of BS in the years to come through our investment and will be providing the strategic direction, commercial management and technical support which Paul and his team require as they continue to build sales.’

Llewelyn continued, ‘Our plan is to create a fresh approach for distribution within the UK. We will build a strong network of independent distributors which benefits from centralised commercial services but continues to offer the personal touch and exceptional levels of customer care.’

IAL, which acquired the Trade Group in 2015, supplies paints, coatings and consumables as a refinish wholesale distributor. It also operates a specialist line-side supply service to automotive OEM and industrial customers, offering process engineering, technical support, new-product introduction and cost-down activity.

The company has featured three times in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100. It is the UK distributor of General Paints, Kovax, Lake Country, Allchem and T-Euro, and has a paint portfolio which includes Nexa Autocolour, PPG, Max Meyer, Glasurit and RM.
