Autosport revs up

Europe’s largest motorsport show – Autosport International – has opened its doors at NEC Birmingham.

From 12-15 January 2017 the show will feature the fastest and most iconic cars, the biggest stars, the latest technology and innovations as well as live wheel-to-wheel racing.

An all-star cast of motorsport heroes will be led by Jacques Villeneuve who will be attending the show on Sunday 15 January, celebrating the 20th anniversary of his 1997 Formula 1 World Championship victory.

Four-time IndyCar Series champion and three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500, Dario Franchitti MBE, will be joining on the Saturday. Also making a star appearance on the Saturday is rookie Williams Martini Racing driver, Lance Stroll. He’ll be the first Canadian F1 driver since Villeneuve, who left the sport in 2006, when he takes to the grid in Melbourne later this year.

There’s no shortage of F1 legends, with Martin Brundle, Johnny Herbert and Derek Warwick all set to attend, while former F1 driver and three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Allan McNish, will be present across the weekend to dissect the year in motorsport, including offering anecdotes on the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Reigning Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden will be present too and he’ll be joined by fellow BTCC drivers and former Championship winners Andrew Jordan, Matt Neal and Colin Turkington on the Autosport Stage. All four will be going head-to-head in the Live Action Arena in what is sure to be a highly competitive time trial.

Tickets are available online at www.autosportinternational.com/public.
