Autoglass helps raise record £1.1m

This year’s Spirit of Belron Challenge has raised more funds than ever before to support developing communities in South Africa.

Over 2,100 participants from across Autoglass and parent company Belron put their running shoes on and gathered at Dorney Lake near Windsor to raise a record amount of money for charity Afrika Tikkun.

The 16th annual Spirit of Belron Challenge saw employees, families, and business partners from as far afield as Canada, Australia and New Zealand compete in a series of events, ranging from a modest five kilometre run to an Olympic-length team triathlon.

Afrika Tikkun supports developing communities in South Africa, funding nutritious meals, medical care and youth development programmes in the cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Through sponsorship of participants and other fundraising activities, the event has so far raised a record £1.1m, bringing total financial support for the charity over the past 16 years to an incredible £7.5m.

Taxiarchis Konstantopoulos, managing director of Autoglass said, ‘The enthusiasm and generosity of our people never ceases to amaze me and once again they have come together to create an inspirational event for Afrika Tikkun. Giving back is a deeply engrained and special part of our culture at Autoglass and The Spirit of Belron challenge is an annual highlight. It’s fantastic to see this pride and passion translating into something that will make a huge difference in many people’s lives.’
