Alton Cars apprentice day hits capacity

Alton Cars is all set to host over 300 young people during its ‘apprentice day’ tomorrow (Saturday 11 March) at its flagship site in Leeds.

The format of the day will include three, two hour sessions and is expected to attract over 600 visitors (young people, family and friends) in total.

Six months in the making, the event will include several interactive competitions on the day from an F1 Simulator to see who can put in the fastest lap, with a prize for each session winner of a Playstation 4. In addition we have a system called Batak Pro which tests speed and agility, and the best score for each session will win a 32” Smart TV.

Alton Cars’ chairman, Tony Parish commented, ‘We are even giving the young people an opportunity to guestimate the cost to repair a damaged vehicle, with prizes for accuracy on each session of a mini iPad.’ Tony labelled the support received from stakeholders in the business as ‘phenomenal’

Neilson Jones, group managing director, said, ‘With 25 apprenticeships available throughout the group, the competition and stakes are very high for the young people attending. In conjunction with AutoRaise and Remit Training, we intend to create our own Training Academy as the 25 will complement the existing 12 apprentices in group.’
