ACIS delivers for BMW

ACIS has created a bespoke version of ASCRIBE, its web-based stock management and ordering solution, for the BMW network of approved bodyshops across the UK.

The new version of the technology allows users to access a tailored and pre-loaded stock file of BMW ColorSystem paint products and consumables via a landing page displaying an image of the latest 3 Series.

During the first tranche of the agreement, ACIS is expecting that 10 BMW-approved bodyshops will have ASCRIBE installed, including the provision of comprehensive operative training to maximise savings. It is predicted that up to 60 BMW-approved and franchised bodyshops will be looking to have the technology installed.

An end-to-end solution, ASCRIBE, which includes new functionality, saves bodyshops an average saving of 18 per cent in product usage.

Clive Farmer, manager, bodyshop development at BMW UK, said, ‘We have been working with ACIS to tailor the ASCRIBE technology for our own approved bodyshops. What we will be installing is easy to use and will allow us to continue our journey of creating greater efficiencies by optimising our stock and eradicating unnecessary waste – it’s a great tool.’

The technology not only automatically replenishes stock but also measures the true efficiency of bodyshop operatives based on hours worked and their use of materials, which provides the ability to set realistic performance targets, for example.

The installation and one-day training programme is being carried out by Ryan O’Neill, the manager for Customer Programmes at ACIS, who said, ‘This has been a very thorough process and we are delighted to be working with BMW UK. When I have been going around to the approved bodyshops, there has been a very positive feedback from the regional teams who will be working with it.’
